A production of Japan’s NHK (Nippon Hoso Kyokai, or Japan Broadcasting Corporation), this roughly 45 minute documentary — recently broadcast in Japan — provides English narration and subtitles, and explores the martial art of Katori Shinto-Ryu.

The video introduction as it appears on the NHK web site:

“At age 88, Japan’s “last Samurai” is still a powerful martial artist and master. Half of Risuke Otake’s 900 students are non-Japanese, and come from all walks of life. They include a university professor, a former naval officer, and an IT professional. Learn about the philosophy and techniques of this wise master. Explore the meaning of Bushido in the modern world. Join us as we follow some non-Japanese students as they train.”
